The three types are: icepick, boxcar, and rolling. Hypertrophic scars are thick clusters of scar tissue and may change size or color over time. Keloid scars are larger and more spread out. They typically appear in places with minimal fatty tissue. Contracture scars happen when there is tissue loss, like a burn, and there is no elastin present.
